Celebrating the 4th of July

As we all are enjoying our long weekend celebrating  the birth of our country it is another reminder why I chose to get into this business.  It's great that our team is able to have flexibility to travel and work, whenever and wherever, because our business is virtual.  We decided from the start that we would practice what we preach to our clients.

From the beginning we decided that our tools were laptops, smart-phones, and software that is hosted.  We currently are using Google Apps for our office suite, email, collaboration site (wiki) both internally and with our clients.  We use Zoho's CRM for our sales and 37 Signals' Basecamp for our project management.

It does take a personal commitment to get the work done between sun and fun time but by not being locked into systems that force us into our offices we can control the balance and quality of work and personal time.

These tools give us the ability to be out of the office and yet still get our work done no matter where we are. Hey we may change which tools we use tomorrow but what is key is we are able to move our data and our people to where ever we need them.
